Abstract

Studies about the universe are exciting for children in elementary and junior high schools. They approach such work with energy and curiosity but they also hold naïve ideas that may be difficult to dislodge. Schools now can obtain access to scientific-grade telescopes for educational purposes via the Internet. Using students’ questions as a basis for projects, teachers can provide first-hand science experiences in the study of astronomy and help build scientific understanding.
