Abstract
By using astronomy demonstrations with edible ingredients, I have been able to increase student interest and knowledge of astronomical concepts. This approach has been successful with all age groups from elementary school through college students, and the students remember these demonstrations after they are presented. In this paper I describe edible/drinkable demonstrations and present three edible demonstrations I have created to simulate differentiation during the formation of the Earth (and planets); the expansion of the Universe, and radioactivity. Sometimes the students eat the results of the astronomical demonstrations. These demonstrations are an effective teaching tool and can be adapted for cultural, culinary, and ethnic differences among the students.
