Abstract
This work is an extened summary of the autor’s PhD thesis. It deals with the teaching of astronomy (day/night, seasons) in primary school. At first, students teachers´ understanding of astronomical concepts
related to Sun-Earth system have been analysed. Taking into account the results of the previous analysis and
using a socio-constructivist approach a teaching sequence has been designed. This sequence has been tested with different groups of students teachers showing an improvement in their understanding of elementary
astronomical concepts.
