Abstract
Th~ purpose of this paper was to examine the literature in an effort to describe the present status of Planetarium research and to suggest questions for future research. In an effort to present information related to the historical development, various models of the universe are discussed and information relating to planetarium operators and the philosophy of planetarium usage is presented. A review of associated research includes descriptive studies, comparative studies, curriculum studies, and others. An extensive reference list is included in the paper.
