Using Trigonometry in Earth Science Astronomy Labs

Abstract

The literature and mathematics available to secondary earth science students allow calculation of the earth's dimensions. Knowing the earth's radius permits calculation of the sun's distance. Once the sun's distance is known, stellar distances can be found.
